1. LEGOLAND MALAYSIA, JOHOR
This theme park has more than 40 rides, shows and attractions as well as hands-on activities – you can push, pedal and programme or steer, squirt and splash your way through an interactive experience. There are seven themed areas with attractions for all ages such as The Beginning, Lego Technic, Lego Kingdoms, Imagination, Lego City, Land Of Adventure and Miniland. From Lego experiment centres to roller coasters, the park offers day-long fun for the whole family.
2 . KIDZANIA, KUALA LUMPUR
KidZania at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara is an indoor interactive education and entertainment theme park that allows children to role-play adult activities in a replica city designed to simulate real-life and a functioning economy.
It aims to help children develop a sense of vocation and learn about the adult world and how a real city works. Children can role-play over 90 different professions in 59 different establishments. These include being a chef, pilot, surgeon, nurse, lawyer, firefighter, police officer, actor, reporter, artist, newscaster and photographer.
3. SUNWAY LAGOON THEME PARK, SELANGOR
Five different themed parks in one destination. Choose to cool down in the tropical sun at Asia’s Best Water Park, look out for a hair-raising experience at Scream Park or simply enjoy the thrilling rides at Amusement Park. Then get your adrenaline pumping at Extreme Park or get up close and personal with your favorite animals at Wildlife Park. All park tickets are priced at RM20 (S$8) on the 20th of every month from October to March. In December, catch the musical Beauty & The Beast at the Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre.
4. GENTING HIGHLANDS, PAHANG
The City Of Entertainment in the highlands draws visitors from all over the world and is especially popular on weekends and public holidays. There are over 40 rides at the Outdoor Theme Park, First World Indoor Theme park and the Water Park. Options include family rides such as Tea Cup, and Flying Jumbo and kiddie rides such as Rodeo Rider. For the thrill seekers, go for Spinner, Corkscrew and the Sg Rejang Flume Ride for some real screams.
5. BUKIT TINGGI RESORT, PAHANG
Head for this hill resort to get a cool break from lowland humidity. Colmar Tropicale, a French-themed resort spread over 32 hectares of forest and at 609m meters above sea level offers a splendid view of the Pahang mountain range. Horse riding is also possible along the trails that traverse the highlands of the Main Range. Instructors are available to help you choose a suitable horse and trail.
6. WET WORLD SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR
Wet World Shah Alam overlooking the scenic Taman Tasik Shah Alam is designed to be safe enough for children to enjoy by themselves. Water level is less than one metre deep and parents can relax while their kids play. Water attractions such as the Fountain Of Youth, Cascading Waterfalls, Neptune Challenge, Atlantis City, Big Splash, Lighthouse Escape, Tunnel Water Slide and Treasure Island will provide hours of family fun.
7. SARAWAK CULTURAL VILLAGE, SARAWAK
The award-winning Sarawak Cultural Village is a must-see attraction in Kuching, Sarawak. The unique living museum is located at the base of the legendary Mount Santubong, 35km from Kuching. It showcases the rich cultural heritage of the State’s diverse population comprising ethnic groups such as Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Melanau, Malay, Chinese and Indian. Visitors can try shooting darts like a Penan and visit an Iban longhouse where real skulls hang on walls. Sarawak Cultural Village is also the venue for the annual World Harvest Festival and popular Rainforest World Music Festival.
8. GOLD COAST MORIB WATER THEME PARK RESORT, SELANGOR
Gold Coast Morib Water Theme Park Resort is along the majestic Morib seafront in Kuala Langat, the nearest sandy beach at the southern end of Selangor. It is less than 90 minutes’ drive from Kuala Lumpur and offers a world of peace and tranquility spread over 5 hectares. Enjoy the beautiful mangroves and coastal scenery. Bukit Gambang Water Park spans 18.5 hectares and includes a man-made 6.9 hectare lake with breathtaking views for water sports. It has the largest wave pool in the country where you can surf to your heart’s content.
Other attractions include family river raft rides and the amazing Six Lane Racer slides with a timing scoreboard. Every adult ride in the park comes with a kid-sized replica.
